HAUTE COUTURE AND LUXURY TAILORING
COURSE DURATION: 6 Months ECTS credits: 20
The program is planned in a way that can expose the learner to the basics of Haute Couture sewing techniques. During this course the students will explore different techniques to realize Haute Couture toiles. By the end of the module the students will be able to create their own design according to all the construction technique learnt as well as applying those to different fabrics and embellishments.
THIS COURSE ENCAPSULATES
• Basic sewing tools and terminology• Basic hand stitching • How to properly use sewing machine and tools • Straight stitch • Oblique stitch • Length stitch • Backstitch • State principles of clothing construction • Select proper fabrics
• Demonstrate correct sewing techniques • Produce correct finishing methods • Basic elements of millinery and decorations / applications • Execution of hand
embroidery.
DESIGN FOR ADVANCED LEVEL
This is an advanced level. The prerequisites are the following:
• Students who have already acquired a good preparation in Pattern Making and sewing • Professionals in the sector who wish to hone their skills.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
• Understand the development process of Haute Couture construction • Acquire a professional approach to sewing methodologies • Use techniques in construction for the creation of innovative design details • Plan technical drawings for the creation of Haute Couture Collections • Develop research processes in Fabric Study and propose new solutions • Understand material and fabric as well as technologies in their appropriate use in the Haute Couture garment production.
